Pectin bioplastic

Extracts pectin from peel and pulp, then gels into a firm, glass-like sheet. Naturally slightly coloured by the fruit.

What you’ll make

Rigid, glass-like, cracks if bent. Warm amber tone.

  • Pectin source

    Pectin-rich peel or pulp200g

    Fruit peel and pulp rich in pectin. Gels with sugar and acid.

    Examples Apple peel, citrus peel, quince, pomace

    Note — Simmer 45 min, strain.

Fixed ingredients

  • Sugar · 100g
  • Lemon juice · 1 tbspReleases pectin.
  • Glycerine · 10gSoftens the final sheet.

Refinements and variations

  • Swap the peel for apple pomace, orange peel, quince, or plum skins.
