Sawdust / coffee puck

A dense wood-like puck made from fine powder pressed with a hot binder. Close to pressed MDF but compostable.

Warm brown, hard, close grain, sandable.

    Cellulose-rich powderLignin-rich wood300g

    Fine, dry, ground-up plant matter. Acts as filler and body in composites and doughs. Stiff, dense wood particles. Holds shape when compressed.

    Examples Coffee, sawdust, bark, fine pine cone

Fixed ingredients

  • Starch or gelatine glue · 100ml

Equipment

  • Press (two flat boards and clamps)
  • baking paper
  • oven.

Refinements and variations

  • Add iron-and-tannin ink for a near-black puck.
