Which year group is the lesson for?

We use this to set vocabulary, pacing and safety. Pick the band you'll mostly be teaching.

Key Stage 1 (Y1–Y2)

Five to seven. Short attention windows, lots of sensory observation.

Key Stage 2 (Y3–Y6)

Seven to eleven. Observation, measuring, recording a result.

Key Stage 3 (Y7–Y9)

Eleven to fourteen. Hypothesis and method, first proper lab safety.

Key Stage 4 (Y10–Y11)

Fourteen to sixteen. GCSE-adjacent chemistry, DT or art.

Key Stage 5 (Y12–Y13)

Sixteen plus. Longer investigations, sixth-form autonomy.

Mixed ages

Enrichment, holiday club, or an all-through day.
